The Annual Pruning Day is on again at Gisborne Peak Winery, Macedon Ranges on Saturday, 18th July. This is just one of the Hands-On Days in the Vineyard that the winery offers to interested wine drinkers so that they can better understand the vine-to-wine process.
The day starts at 9:15 a.m. with registration and coffee. Bob Nixon, owner and viticulturist, then runs a theory class in the different styles of pruning used in the vineyard. These pruning skills are very transferable to most bushes, plants and shrubs around the home garden. Three styles of pruning are used at Gisborne Peak Winery.
Armed with new knowledge, the participants can then practice their new skills in the vineyard, under supervision of course. “Some learn quickly, others are more hesitant but in the end they all have some new confidence and have learned, or honed, a very practical skill”, says Bob.
Lunch in included and will include some of the delicious wood-fired pizzas that the winery is known for along with a hearty bowl of soup and a glass of estate wine. All of this for $30.00 pp. Give the winery a call to book in and find out what to bring and what to wear. T. (03) 5428-2228.
MyVine Parents are encouraged to come and prune their own vine. As a MyVine Parent you qualify for the discounted price of $20.00 pp.
